Why does my cat drool?

Why does my cat drool when I pet him? At first I just thought he was relaxing, but then someone said it might mean that there's something wrong with him.

Well, if she's drooling a lot, it could mean poisoning, but if she's always done it, and it's mostly when you pet him, he probably is just relaxing. My cat drools when I pet her too.
